Operation Rudolph brightens Christmas for clients, kids

December 2009 - Charlie's Place held its 2009 Christmas Party for its clients in treatment and their children by providing food and gifts from

Santa on Dec 23.

Donations to "Operation Rudolph" helped pay for the party and gifts. Food was prepared and catered by Charlie's Place Chef Tyrick Dowd and his kitchen staff. A candlelight gratitude meeting followed dinner, and then Santa came to hand out gifts to the children.

"Operation Rudolph 2009 was a huge success due to the efforts of many throughout the community," reports Amy Granberry, Director of Organizational Development at Charlie's Place, adding, "Volunteers donated gifts, helped wrap gifts, put together presents for the clients and made decorations for the event. Many others made donations to the event, ensuring that everyone had a wonderful Christmas. The clients were extremely appreciative and surprised that so many were interested in them and willing to help. Thanks to all who participated in any way — we can’t wait for next year!"

Pumpkin carving at Charlie's Place

Halloween pumpkin carving at Charlie's

October 28, 2009 - Halloween gets pretty scary at Charlie’s Place as clients compete for best pumpkin design. Winners got a pizza party, and everyone else just had a good time. The whole building smelled like fresh pumpkin, and the Chef couldn’t wait to roast the seeds for everyone to munch on. One client carved Charlie's Place logo into the face of his pumpkin.
