Charlie's Place Detoxification Unit is a sub-acute medical facility licensed to serve 42 clients per day.
Dr. Francisco Acebo is the medical director of this unit and works closely with nursing manager
Tiffany Waid, RN
and counselor
Linda National, LCDC to ensure that all clients receive quality care.
Clients receive
detox services for 5-14 days depending on their individual needs, with an average stay of 7 days.
Clients are placed on a medication protocol as ordered by the medical director and is designed to lessen withdrawal
symptoms so the client can safely and comfortably become drug/alcohol free by the end of the program. Clients are
monitored around
the clock by our
dedicated staff and attend group and individual
counseling services while in detox.
Residential Treatment is highly recommended upon completion of the detox program, in order to give the
client additional
stability and gain skills necessary to remain sober.
Co-founder Charlie Acklen passed away before his ultimate dream of providing detox services to those in desperate
need was realized,
but when the 15-bed unit opened in late 1996 it was named in his memory. Charlie was Executive Director Emeritus of the agency
when he passed away. He was known for taking in anyone who asked for help no matter how many times they asked. Many of the
attitudes and traditions we work diligently to preserve today were taught by Charlie. To meet increasing demand, this program
was moved to a larger building in December 2007, adding an additional 27 beds.
